On 13 Friday February, at 6:00 pm the Psychoanalytic Institut for Social Research – IPRS Ets, and the Elvio Fachinelli Advanced Studies in Psychoanalysis – ISAP, are pleased to present a special screening of “Outsider. Freud” , a documentary by Yair Qedar dedicated to the life and intellectual legacy of Sigmund Freud.
Conceived as a dialogue between cinema and psychoanalysis, this event offers an opportunity to reflect on Freud not only as the founder of psychoanalysis, but as a cultural figure shaped by exile, identity and intellectual marginality. Through archival materials, animation and contemporary perspectives, the film presents a powerful portrait of Freud as an “outsider” whose thought continues to shape modern culture.

🎞️ The film will be screened in its original language with Italian subtitles.

The event will take place both in person and online.

The film will be projected in the conference hall with Italian subtitles.
After the screening, a live discussion will take place.

Online participants will receive an official Vimeo link to watch the film individually, in agreement with the director, in order to preserve the highest possible video quality.
The online version of the film also includes Italian subtitles.

After the screening, a live discussion will take place with:
Yair Qedar, documentary filmmaker, social and peace activist, and former journalist
Raffaele Bracalenti, psychoanalyst and President of IPRS Ets
Sergio Benvenuto, psychoanalyst and writer, founder of the European Journal of Psychoanalysis and President of the Elvio Fachinelli Institute – ISAP
The discussion will explore the contemporary relevance of Freud’s thought and the cultural and psychoanalytic dimensions highlighted in the film.
